Vote For Informed Leadership
Hello ladies and gentlemen and the citizens of Waynesboro. I am
DuBose Egleston, Jr., a candidate for the At - Large seat on Waynesboro City
Council. I feel that I have the experience and knowledge to continue the vision for
Waynesboro without the bickering and continuous element that is now on City
Council.
When I am elected I will meet regularly with other council members one on
one to improve our working relationship so that council can work efficiently and
effectively together. I will not be a rubber stamp for any other two council members
but will always strive to do the best for the citizens of Waynesboro on each
and every decision.
Some of my initiatives when elected will be:
A. Keeping taxes low without sacrificing the level of service
B. Study the possibility of doing away with car decals
C. Sunday hours for the Library from 1p.m. - 5 p.m.
D. Study the possibility of debit credit cards at the Treasure’s Office
E. Skateboard Park
F. Movie Theatre
G. Outdoor lighting ordinance
H. Meetings every month at Library for citizen input
I. Yearly public meeting with citizens and City Manager
J. Education will continue to receive its 42.5% of new money generated in the city.
K. Lighted ball fields in Ridgeview Park
We may have to reevaluate our commitment to the WTA in the future. Presently I urge
all citizens to continue with the private support of the Wayne Theatre.
After almost three years of divisive members actions, we now have a mandate to proceed with three capital improvement projects that should have been approved three years ago. This has cost the citizens of Waynesboro several million dollars in additional fees.
We also have no storm water money in place to pay for long overdue and neglected flooding
problems throughout the City, after sixteen months of bickering
and arguing.
I have lived in Waynesboro since I was four years old and very much want
this City to progress and improve. Local Government is not a spectator part, it is
participatory. So, I am asking for your vote on May 6, 2008.
Thank You Very Much.
